Abstract

When we talk about science fiction, we usually relate it to spaceships, visions of the future, time travel, however, this goes further and covers an immense number of trends and proposals such as the creation of fictional narrative material. With the objective of analyzing the work of Jules Verne, The Journey to the Center of the Earth, which aims to enhance the relevant strategies to stimulate the creativity of narrative in the students of the “Camilo Ponce Enríquez” Educational Unit located in the province of Manabí in the Manta canton. The sample was made up of 24 people, including students and teachers, authorities of the institution who provided the appropriate information for this research. The approach of this research work is mixed because data was obtained through the application of interviews and surveys. The results obtained from the research showed that young people are unaware of both the author and the work of Journey to the Center of the Earth. In addition, the lack of willingness to read and the lack of knowledge of the science fiction genre has had an influence, which is why the application of the Storybooks platform is proposed to help as a tool to create unpublished narratives and presentations based on Verne’s work.
