Abstract

The social and solidarity economy is a more equitable and sustainable development model that seeks the common well-being of all citizens, based on the principles of equity and citizen participation. Therefore, its implementation within tourism is fundamental because it focuses on economic and social benefits, and, above all, a commitment to environmental protection, generating a better quality of life and a positive impact on tourism in the area. The purpose of this project is to implement the social and solidarity economy to promote tourism development in the Puerto Portovelo community. The research pursues a descriptive methodological approach, seeking to gather objective information and analyze it to gain a more detailed understanding of the topic or problem at hand. The theoretical framework addresses key aspects such as solidarity, participation, sustainability, and community tourism. It also seeks to generate impact through job creation, improved quality of life, and environmental conservation. The findings of this research aim to contribute to the community's tourism development through the social and solidarity economy. A training and development proposal is presented, which will address hospitality, service, decision-making, environmental stewardship, and economics.
