Consecuencias de implementar recursos digitales “Runachay” en la lectura crítica durante la pandemia.

Abstract

COVID-19 caused a drastic shift to virtual education, which impacted students' critical reading. The study highlights the importance of addressing issues of digital resources and the need for greater instructor involvement to maximize the positive impact of platforms like Runachay on developing reading comprehension. It proposes a mixed methodology (surveys and focus groups) and examines the consequences of the Runachay platform on the critical reading of eighth-grade students at the Gral Eloy Alfaro Educational Unit. The results show that most perceived the tool as effective in improving reading comprehension, although limitations such as lack of support regarding usage information, connectivity issues, and low participation in the classroom were identified. Despite the challenges with some activities, students expressed satisfaction with the assessments and teaching materials. This study highlights the importance of having pedagogical strategies that support the use of digital resources such as this platform, to ensure that their access and effectiveness promote the development of critical reading, especially in difficult situations such as the pandemic. Critical reading is essential for learning, and for digital tools work well, it is necessary to accompany them with good pedagogical support that guarantees their success.
